In Swahili, the language of the Tanzanian and Kenyan Masaï tribes, safari means voyage. Only a few decades ago, this type of African adventure was reserved for a select number of seasoned and daring travellers capable of enduring the extreme living conditions. This is fortunately, no longer the case, since today, in Africa there are luxury hotels that enable visitors to discover the infinite wealth of the continent’s fauna under privileged and comfortable conditions. Some hotel groups, especially in the south and the east of Africa share this market of bush lodges thanks to their eco-friendly philosophy, a prerequisite for gaining authorization to open here. From the Serengeti plains to the Namibian dunes, from the Botswana bush to the Okavango delta, the fantasy of living the life of a 19^th century explorer has become a reality.  Ideally located, either inside or adjacent to nature reserves, these lodges, which can be disassembled, are primarily built in the form of tents, enabling visitors to enjoy an unforgettable sensual experience in the heart of nature with its sounds and smells. These hotels however, are not simply content to welcome sensation seeking tourists, since part of their profits are used to finance scientific programs and activities designed to protect endangered species. The limited space of these type lodges makes booking a long time in advance a necessity. In the same manner as 150 years ago, a great deal of time and organization goes into planning a safari!
